Chatting with Loure Bussey

Loure BusseyWhen did you first know you wanted to be a writer?

Ever since childhood, I wanted to be a writer. And fortunately I received encouragement. In addition to my parents, I am grateful to the teachers who always expressed how much they enjoyed my work, made me read it aloud to the class, and gave me the confidence to pursue a writing career. I always loved words. I always loved creating characters, storylines, and settings.

Tell us about your latest book

I won a screenwriting contest several years ago for an original script, a sexy thriller, The Secrets of Westbridge. Everyone expressed that it would make a great novel, so I adapted it. The story is about a successful, New Orleans attorney who cannot remember a portion of his childhood on a South Carolina island, and the two obsessed women who lead him to uncover shocking secrets about those missing memories.

If any of your male characters could come to life and rock your world, which would it be?

I love all the men in my books, but for now if I have to pick one, I guess it would be Cole LeCarre in my upcoming book, Private Sessions. He’s strong, super sexy, smart, successful, and has a really good heart. When he loves a woman, he loves her hard. He loves her with everything he has.

If any of your female characters could run for President of the US, which would you nominate?

I love all my female heroines, but I believe that Jada Gracen from my novel Tropical Heat would be a great candidate. She’s intelligent, strong, level headed, and keeps her eyes on the goal of success.

Do you prefer men in boxers, briefs or nothing at all?

All of the above are beautiful sights.

Is there any one book that has changed your life?

I love so many books, but one that inspired me is Think and Grow Rich By Dennis Kimbro. It details the success secrets of African-Americans who have achieved their dreams and greatness. It confirmed my belief that if God puts a desire for a dream strongly in your heart, you have to work hard for it until you have your dream.

What’s the most unusual/erotic/surprising places your characters have had sex?

Oh, they could wind up anywhere in my books (smile) the office, the beach, the dining room table, and just about everywhere else. In the Secrets of Westbridge, they are first together outside in this beautiful, secluded area in New Orleans.

If you could have lunch with one person throughout history, who would it be?

I would love to have lunch with President Obama. I admire him so much on so many levels. He is such an amazing person, and has had the most amazing journey. I’d like to talk to him about what is in his spirit that led him to where he is. I’d like to talk to him about so many things. I also love that he is an author. I’d like to know if he has any ideas for more nonfiction books, or even novels.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a book called Private Sessions for my company Allura Publishing. It’s about a woman with an interesting past who meets the man of her dreams. However, he has a good friend who knows all about her indiscretions, and uses it to his advantage.

Is there any question you wish I’d asked you.  You can answer it here.

l thank everyone who has read my books or will read them, for giving me the chance to entertain them. When they purchase a book, they deserve the best, and I will always try to give my best to them.  I would also like to tell everyone about my new publishing company, Allura Publishing, http://www.AlluraPublishing.com. We publish e-book and print romances and mainstream books. We will also have forthcoming romantic music.

Thanks, Loure!
